How It Works

Booking a ride is simple.

  1. 1

    Call or book online

Tell us the pickup, appointment, insurance, and whether a wheelchair, gurney, or ambulatory ride is needed.

  2. 2

    We confirm and prep

We verify insurance or broker authorization, assign the right vehicle, and send a pickup window.

  3. 3

    Door-to-door care

A trained driver arrives on time, secures the wheelchair or stretcher, and stays with the rider from door to door.

Payment & Insurance

Covered by most plans, or pay privately.

We bill multiple Medi-Cal plans through approved brokers, accept Medicare Advantage supplemental transportation benefits, work with VA Community Care, and offer transparent private-pay rates.

Trust & Safety

Credentials you can hand to a case manager.

We publish what a discharge planner, ADHC director, or family caregiver actually asks for: insurance, HIPAA training, driver certs, and measurable on-time performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT)?

NEMT is safe, professional transport to and from medical appointments for patients who do not need an ambulance. That includes dialysis patients, seniors, wheelchair users, and people coming home from the hospital. DayLight provides ambulatory, wheelchair, and gurney transport across San Diego County.

Does DayLight accept Medi-Cal?

Yes. DayLight works with Medi-Cal members through approved plans and NEMT brokers. Call our dispatch line and we will confirm coverage for your specific plan and appointment.

Do you have Arabic-speaking drivers and dispatchers?

Yes. We serve the Chaldean, Iraqi, and Assyrian community in El Cajon with Arabic-speaking dispatchers and drivers, alongside English and Spanish. Same number, same team.

How far in advance should I book a ride?

24 hours is ideal for non-urgent appointments. Same-day rides are accepted when a vehicle is available. For recurring dialysis or weekly appointments, we lock in a consistent schedule so the same driver arrives every time.

What areas do you cover?

We serve El Cajon, La Mesa, Santee, Lakeside, Spring Valley, Lemon Grove, National City, Chula Vista, downtown San Diego, and all of San Diego County. Long-distance trips to Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside, and Imperial County are available by appointment.

Are your drivers CPR and first-aid trained?

Yes. Every DayLight driver completes CPR, first-aid, and wheelchair Q-straint securement training. Drivers are background-checked and carry current DOT medical cards.

Can you transport dialysis patients three times per week?

Yes. Recurring dialysis transport is one of our core services. We partner with Fresenius Fletcher Parkway, Kaiser RAI Fletcher, DaVita East County, and Satellite clinics to provide on-time morning, afternoon, and evening pickups.
